About this event
Tandava is Sanskrit for divine cosmic dance. It is a powerful ancient path to yoga (oneness), practiced by Adiyogi (the very first yogi), Shiva, himself*. Unlike yoga asanas (poses), however, tandava is practically unheard of in our modern world - particularly in the west.
TANDAV marks the revival of this powerful ancient practice, reimagined for our modern world. A dance between all dualities, TANDAV balances the masculinity of traditional yoga practices with the femininity of free-form ecstatic dance.
Music - largely psychedelic trance with ethnic flavors and mantras woven in - is an integral component of the TANDAV experience and its potency.
Deeply rooted in yogic principles, TANDAV is a path to radical inclusivity and yoga (oneness) through surrender, intensity, and balance. It is a spiritual journey incorporating traditional yogic teachings and practices with music, movement, and stillness.
You do not need to be a “dancer” or a “yogi” to experience the power of this practice. TANDAV is for anyone with a genuine desire to get to know themselves intimately and a willingness to “do the work”.
This is an individual practice. We invite you to give yourself the invaluable gift of your own time and attention. At the same time - held within the safety of a loving community - know that you are not alone.

* Though we refer to Shiva using the male pronouns here, this is simply for ease of language. TANDAV celebrates Shiva as Ardhanarishvara, which portrays Shiva as half-male-half-female, recognizing and honoring each of us as a beautiful and powerful blend of the masculine and feminine - no matter which pronouns we identify with.
Logistics
Here’s a glimpse at the intended flow for the event:
5:00 - 5:15 PM: Opening Circle: brief context, agreements, introductions, intentions.
5:15 - 6:15 PM: TANDAV Practice.
6:15 - 6:30 PM: Closing Circle: group sharing, support, feedback.
